A Proposal

I think your eyes throw back the light in ways the windows in this room were not built to handle. Your cheekbones line your face in shadows that flicker whenever your mouth moves. And your lips arch and tumble into a calculus of impossible curves.

I would like to capture these things on film, or to try. I would like to make you this proposal: may I take your picture?

I love this shot. I’m working on getting all my portraits to be this sharp, in that technical way of sharpness — the ability to trust in a photograph’s lines.
