I remember this.
I can’t believe it’s been so long since I’ve posted anything here, let alone an original anything. Life got the better of me, what with exams and the general December blues. But January is just around the corner, which means February is on its way too, and March and April etc, so it’s practically spring already. I could do with some heat.

I’m committing to one Vimeo video a day. Any more, and I’d drown in a sea of self-pity. Any less, and I’d forget all the incredible things a person can make.

Keeping it Legal
Today I’m spending my morning drawing up legal forms — model and copyright release forms — for some tentatively upcoming shoots. You’d think law school would help with you this kind of thing, but it doesn’t really. All it gives you a false sense of familiarity with some of the verbiage; it doesn’t make you feel any more prepared for the unexpected that you’re trying to preempt.
And some of the models are law students, so I guess I should be extra careful, hah.
Also, this is all excellent practice for Jan 2011. Oh yes, I’ve got a Plan.

Hold the sun, I’m on my way
I need to go on a city walkabout ASAP. The sunsets begin to feel less and less like the fading of days and more and more like the dying of seasons. There’s that — the increasing remove of the light, replaced with clouds that seep up coatsleeves — and there’s also the realisation that I’ve written nothing and done no urban shoots since I got back here, going on 2 months now.
Gotta fight the apathy, before November sets in and kills me.

Hello, you.
Been awol, haven’t I. Sorry about that — moved cities, still living semi-unfurnished, have a terrible course load, am trying to figure out how to be less broke … and have already photographed two concerts (Flying Lotus, then Dead Prez!) in the 3 weeks I’ve been in Vancouver.
Busy times, no doubt. Expect pictures soon. Also, I’m better at updates (specifically around ltw designs) on Facebook. Don’t be a stranger!

The Hold Up
I’ve got 19 photos staggered in queue, to be published one day at a time, and I can hardly restrain myself, because I want them all to be up now now now. But this is also an exercise in patience and pacing, and it’ll be like watching a story unfold, as each photo is revealed, with all these other posts and conversations in between. Some of the photos are clearly parts of a set and others are standalone shots, and I’m interested in seeing how my feelings about them change over time as I see them become belatedly public.

Oh, hello there.
The short story is that I don’t enjoy Flickr and that I obsess over photography. I have another Tumblr account, which I use to run the sidebar of text links on my real blog. Running that account made me wish I could use my Tumblr like an actual Tumblr, in conversation with all the other Tumblrers out there.
And so we have today: A Proposal, where ltw designs focuses on the world through a viewfinder. The goal is one upload a day. Curious about the name? Here is my About section, as of today:
Cheesy? As hell. But true. May I take your picture?I think your eyes throw back the light in ways the windows in this room were not built to handle. The bridge of your nose crosses the expanse from your lips to your forehead in a fell swoop of skin, cartilage, and small hairs that glow. Your cheekbones line your face in shadows that flicker with the movements of your mouth. And your lips arch and tumble into a calculus of impossible curves.
I would like to capture these things on film, or to try. I would like to make you this proposal: may I take your picture?
