I think your eyes throw back the light in ways the windows in this room were not built to handle. Your cheekbones line your face in shadows that flicker whenever your mouth moves. And your lips arch and tumble into a calculus of impossible curves.
I would like to capture these things on film, or to try. I would like to make you this proposal: may I take your picture?
The white patterns along the doorframe actually can be decoded. Tom, the Velo Dervish, and a member of the Naqshabandi sufi band at this centre, explained that this particular design is a family heirloom of the sheikh who runs this order.
